Soooooo...

As those of you who have been checking the Comments page already know, my laptop went into extreme meltdown as soon as I reached Newfoundland early on Thursday morning. The Friday and Saturday comics, which I had scanned in but not edited, were thus rendered inaccessible to me. A computer-savvy friend of mine managed to get the computer working again long enough for me to edit half of the Friday comic; then it died again. I should have left a note on the site in the brief window when the laptop was functional, but I didn't realise it would, well, be a brief window.

On Sunday evening, my friend attempted to boot up my computer using Linux and retrieve the relevant files. Unfortunately, the version of Linux he had downloaded turned out, through no fault of his own, to be a highly unhelpful edition for visually impaired people (unhelpful for us but also, I suspect, for visually impaired people; it was actually really, really horrible in every possible way). We had to abandon the attempt, since I needed to get maybe two hours of sleep before catching a plane at 5:20 a.m. Newfoundland time (that's 3:50 a.m. Toronto time, folks). This evening, we tried again. However, this evening, my friend--who is fantastic--was in Calgary, while I was in Toronto. He guided me through the whole Linux deal over MSN. It took hours. In the end, however, I retrieved the files.

(Just a note: Linux may be great when you know how to use it, but when you don't, it seems to be the nightmare mutant offspring of DOS. I shall have scary dreams about those damn prompts tonight.)

At any rate, the comic is currently a bit behind, as I could not progress on it while I was in Newfoundland. I'll be doing the slowly-but-surely-catching-up thing; I can't do the catching-up-all-at-once thing, as I've also got plenty of marking to do. Thank you for your patience.

Incidentally, Newfoundland is very pretty, and now I want a concertina. Don't ask.
