A reminder that the launch of Peter L. Biro’s book of essays, Constitutional Democracy Under Stress: A Time for Heroic Citizenship is happening this Wednesday, August 26th from 1-2pm EDT. Editor Peter L. Biro joins Principal Nathalie Des Rosiers for a discussion on the state and future of liberal democracies, with Senior Fellow Mary Jo Leddy and Junior Fellow Nidhi Panwar.

2020 marks the 15th anniversary of the Responsibility to Protect – Register online here to attend a panel discussion on the future of global humanitarianism on Tuesday, September 8th, at noon. Also on September 8, we are launching the Fall 2020 Massey Dialogues series, with our first event taking place at 3:00pm on BIPOC and the Arts, entitled The Arts today: a discussion on the impact of pandemic and racism.

On Friday, September 11th Massey is hosting a virtual book launch of Lessons from the Arctic: The Role of Regional Government in International Affairs. This will be the first in a series of events focussed on the Arctic, Northern Defence and Foreign Policy.

Walrus internship recipient and Junior Fellow Michael O’Shea’s piece in the Walrus – The Wild, Wild West of Space Law is now available online.

Junior Fellows Anastasia Korolj and Krish Bilimoria have been named the 2020 Massey Grand Rounds Co-Chairs. On Wednesday, September 16th, Dr. Sonia Anand will deliver the 2020 Janet Rossant Lecture entitled: Understanding the influence of gender and ancestral origin on the development of cardiovascular disease: a life-course perspective.

And lastly, it is with great sadness that we have heard of the passing of Allan Fotheringham – a giant of Canadian Journalism, who was a William Southam Journalism Fellow at the College between 1963-64. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
