[Massey Pride] “Being LGBT+ in Academia: Ask Me Anything”

November 13 at 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EST

Continuing the Pride week series, we will be hosting an “Ask Me Anything” dialogue moderated by Senior Resident Fellow Dr. Anita McGahan. If you have questions, queries, or quandaries about being an out LGBTQI+ academic, or just identifying as LGBTQI+ a few of your Massey fellows will have a go at providing an answer. We currently have a “panel” of three junior fellows, whose identities include pansexual, demisexual, trans, non-binary, gay male, and black lesbian. We encourage everyone to attend this event and ask questions, there is always more we can learn through hearing others’ experiences. Additionally, we would like this event to be a forum for discussion which includes as many voices as possible.

You can submit your question using this (anonymous) Google form which will close Wednesday November 13th at noon. The only data collected on the form are time/date (auto-filled), and your question.

Why are we doing this? Whether you’re struggling to understand a concept in the LGBT+ space, are struggling with your own identity, or are simply curious, we hope to build an open dialogue that steps around the fear we may have in asking these questions. No question is too basic. We do note that we want all of the people asking questions to feel comfortable doing so, but expect that the questions will come from a place of wanting to understand rather than a place of intolerance/hate.
