Dr. Alan Broadbent C.M., Chairman & Founder of the Maytree Foundation, Senior Fellow (Corporation)
- He co-founded and chairs the Caledon Institute of Social Policy, Tamarack – An Institute for Community Engagement, Diaspora Dialogues, and the Institute for Municipal Finance and Governance at the Munk Centre, University of Toronto. Alan is the author of Urban Nation: Why We Need to Give Power Back to the Cities to Make Canada Strong. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Ryerson University in 2009, and from Queen’s University in 2015.
Dr. Ryan Doherty, mHealth social entrepreneur, Alumni (2010-2013)
- While completing his PhD in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto & Structural Genomics Consortium, he co-founded and led a digital health startup called iamsick.ca. He currently runs iamsick.ca out of a University of Toronto incubator with a team of 15. iamsick.ca provides a website & free mobile apps that focus on improving access to healthcare services by empowering patients while enabling healthcare providers & regional health organizations. He was a former co-chair of Massey Grand Rounds.
Following short presentations from each of our guests, there will be a moderated discussion with participation from the audience.
Massey Talks! is an initiative of the Junior Fellowship that has occurred regularly for several years. Its purpose is to create new opportunities for Senior Fellows, Junior Fellows, and members of the Quadrangler Society to interact and engage in discussion.
Talks take place in the intimate setting of the Massey College Upper Library. Both speakers and members of the audience come from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds and represent the best of the interdisciplinary spirit of the college.
