News of the mass shootings in Nova Scotia evoke all sort of emotions. Our hearts go to the families and friends of the victims. Let’s hope that 2020 will eventually bring some good news.
We want to continue to engage our community on key issues. In the next few weeks, the Massey Dialogues will focus on the following topics:
Tuesday, April 21st at 4pm, we will discuss Voices of Resilience: My Experiences in Afghanistan – Safeguarding the Gains in Afghanistan with Nurjehan Mawani former Diplomatic Representative of His Highness the Aga Khan to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. We will be joined by Junior Fellow and global affairs student Leah Morris and Canada’s longest serving foreign correspondent Matthew Fisher, who lived in Afghanistan for 6 years. Wednesday, April 22nd at noon, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette will be in conversation with her good friend and Senior Fellow Dr. Barbara Sherwood Lollar and Junior Fellow, artist, and architect James Bird. Click here to attend the livestream.
Thursday, April 23rd at 5:00pm, we will talk about the state of media and the dangers of misinformation with incoming Senior Fellow John Macfarlane, Senior Fellow and Toronto Star editorial page editor emeritus Haroon Siddiqui, and Junior Fellow and English Literature Ph.D. student Apala Das. Next week, Senior Fellow Michael Valpy and Alumna Gwen Healey Akearok will be in conversation about the pandemic in Iqaluit; Sociology professor Antoni Casilli from l’École des Hautes études en sciences sociales will discuss privacy issues in France in the fight against COVID—19, and; Professor Randy Boyagoda, Principal of the University of St. Michael’s College and incoming Senior Fellow, will share his passion for reading.
