The Massey Dialogues: Week of April 13

Dear Members of the Massey Community, Chers collègues,

I am very pleased to invite you to virtually attend our Massey Dialogues this week on YouTube.

Tuesday, April 14 at 4:00 pm, join me in welcoming to our community incoming Senior Fellow Phil Fontaine, President of Ishkonigan Inc. who served as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations for an unprecedented three terms. We will be in conversation with Senior Fellow Bob Rae, currently a Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and Junior Fellow Mia McKie, who is pursuing her PhD in the Department of History, to discuss Reconciliation: Next Steps.

Livestream Tuesday’s event here.

Wednesday, April 15 at 12:00pm, we will host Professors and Senior Fellows Anita McGahan and James Orbinski in conversation with Junior Fellow Amanda Loder on A New Strategy for Global Health. In the context of the pandemic, hunger is mounting for some return to normalcy – and especially for the re-opening of some parts of the economy. How will that happen? This discussion will focus on how global health depends on both medical and economic security, and will reflect on ways in which society will transition to re-open the economy.

Livestream Wednesday’s event here.

Thursday, April 16 at 5:00 pm, Junior Fellow Gurveer Bains will interview incoming Senior Fellow Dr. Sunit Das on his research journey entitled Magic, Homer, Heidegger, LTP — a fascinating look at his career from literature and philosophy to medicine, neurosurgery, and academia. They will be joined in conversation by Senior Fellow Dr. Janet Rossant and Junior Fellow Seshu Iyengar.

Livestream Thursday’s event here.

Please join us and tell your friends. You can also watch our previous editions of the Massey Dialogues. Stay home and stay intellectually alive!

I am working on the programming for the upcoming weeks, with lots of additional surprises. Please let me know of your suggestions.

I wish you all the best and hope that you are keeping well,

Nathalie Des Rosiers
